Progress at the Peninsula, London

The Peninsula London at Hyde Park Corner is due to open during late 2021, here's a look at progress to date and what you can expect.

Following the planning decision in April 2016 which cleared the way for the demolition of 1-5 Grosvenor Place, the Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels Company pressed ahead with the design and construction of a grand hotel fitting for the location.

Sir Robert McAlpine were appointed to lead the construction of the project. Byrne Brothers have now successfully topped out the frame in June 2019 and the top down basement excavation is due to complete shortly.


Seele are now underway with the cladding installation that has recently progressed to the 2nd floor, which will shortly release the prestigious high specification interior fit out for commencement.

With plans for 189 guest rooms and suites the hotel will be one of the most luxurious within London. Benefiting from restaurants and bars, a spa with associated leisure facilities, a grand ballroom plus business and meeting facilities. In addition there will be in excess of 20 private serviced apartments to cater for the most discerning clientele.

Once complete, the hotel will include a shopping precinct with nine retail outlets totally nearly 12,000 square feet, which will offer international luxury brands to provide an unparalleled hotel experience.
